The Chairman is Bill Daigle. Bill knows wood. It’s been a part of his life ever since he can remember.
According to Bill, “Wood is in my genes. My uncles were carpenters and contractors and owned a lumber mill in Ball Club, Minnesota on the Leach Lake Indian Reservation.
“During Summers in high school, I helped my cousins build cabins and garages; they were both carpenters, too. My Uncle Vince owned a cabinet shop called Daigle Wood Works. He built signs for the National Parks Service (you have seen these signs if you’ve ever been to one of the many National Parks scattered throughout our nation). My father drove a lumber delivery truck. Essentially, I’ve been around wood and wood-workers my entire life.
“I understand how to work with wood, and I know, from experience, how and why certain woods react in various indoor and outdoor environments. Because of this, I’ve worked with all types of wood. I’m always amazed how it has such varying character.”
Below is a list of just a few types of wood The Chairman has used to build his furniture:
- Western Red Cedar
- Eastern Red Cedar
- Heart Pine
- Red Oak
- Wormy Maple
- Ipê (Brazilian Walnut)
- Hemlock (sorry Socrates)
For many years now, wood has been Bill’s mode of creation. It is his passion to build and, ultimately, to create his customer’s vision.
